Calvert-Lewin returned to the starting lineup and scored his first goal for Everton against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
The English striker, who has been out with an ankle injury since January, was named as a substitute by manager Marco Silva but came off the bench to replace the injured Richarlison in the 77th minute.
He made no mistake when he got his chance, though, scoring a stunning volley from close range that beat goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and nestled into the bottom corner of the net.
It was a well-deserved goal for Calvert-Lewin, who had impressed during pre-season and looked like being a key player for the Toffees this season.
However, his return to the starting line-up was overshadowed by the news that Richarlison is likely to be out for several months after suffering a serious knee injury in the match.
Silva praised Calvert-Lewin's performance and said: "We needed a good start to the season and we have got it today. He played really well."
The win also helped Everton move up to sixth place in the table, just one point behind Manchester United, who are currently top.
Overall, it was a positive day for Everton fans, who were delighted to see their team back on track after a disappointing start to the season.
