Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin played out a goalless draw in their Bundesliga match on Saturday, leaving both sides unable to secure their win streaks.
The game was a tight affair from start to finish, with neither side managing to break the deadlock despite numerous attempts by both teams. However, it was Borussia Dortmund who came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 75th minute when they were awarded a penalty for handball.
However, Union Berlin goalkeeper Jan Kalina saved the spot kick, denying the home side the chance to take the lead. The equaliser arrived just two minutes later as Union Berlin midfielder Florian Längenfelder scored from close range after receiving a pass from his team-mate.
Despite the equalising goal, Borussia Dortmund struggled to create any clear-cut chances and had to settle for a point. This result means that both sides have now gone four games without winning and will be hoping to get back to winning ways soon.
It was a frustrating afternoon for both teams, but it is likely that both will look to bounce back from this defeat in the coming weeks. With the Bundesliga season still in full swing, there is plenty of time for both teams to put in some performances and turn things around.
