Bayern Munich secured their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with a convincing victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
The German giants were dominant throughout the game, dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities for themselves to score goals. However, it was not until the second half that they found the net.
In the 68th minute, Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski put them ahead with a clinical finish from close range. Five minutes later, substitute Thomas Müller doubled their lead with a powerful shot from outside the box. In the 77th minute, Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka added a third goal by converting a penalty kick after being brought down by Frankfurt defender Stefan Savićević.
Despite their dominance, Bayern were far from finished. Just two minutes later, substitute Serge Gnabry scored his first goal for the club with a curling effort from distance. The final goal of the match came just three minutes later when substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed his hat-trick with a low shot past Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
The result means that Bayern will be playing Manchester City in the last eight of the Champions League next week. It also means that Kane has now scored six goals in four matches for England, including four in the World Cup group stage. Meanwhile, Sané is now one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga this season, having scored five goals in nine games.
Overall, it was another impressive display from Bayern Munich, who have now won all seven of their matches in the Champions League so far this season. They will be hoping to continue their excellent form when they face Manchester City in the quarter-finals next week.
